About the Role

We're seeking a dedicated Safety & Wellness Officer to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants and staff during our tech programs. In this role, you'll oversee health protocols, provide first aid care, manage medication administration, and promote overall wellness. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in community health management within an educational setting while supporting our mission to create safe, inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities
Implement and oversee health and safety protocols for all summer programs
Provide first aid care for minor injuries and illnesses
Manage the documentation and secure storage of participant health information
Administer medications according to prescribed instructions and parental/guardian authorization
Conduct daily health checks and monitor for potential health concerns
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, including coordination with emergency services when necessary
Maintain a clean, organized health office and first aid supplies inventory
Communicate effectively with staff regarding participant health needs and accommodations
Educate participants and staff on health and wellness practices, including proper hydration, sun protection, and ergonomics during technology use
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations relevant to youth and senior programs

Travel Requirements
Our positions require mobility and travel. Youth classes are conducted at local high schools or education buildings, not at our main office. Similarly, Tech It Easy classes are held off-site at nursing homes and adult care facilities throughout Cincinnati. As an intern, you will be expected to travel to these various educational sites and will only report to our main office once per week for team meetings and administrative tasks. Therefore, all applicants must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to travel approximately 25% of their work time. Additionally, our networking events and special programs are typically held at convention centers in the Cincinnati area. Reliable transportation is essential for this position, as you'll need to transport materials and equipment between locations. Please consider these travel requirements carefully before applying.

Requirements


  • Current nursing student, EMT student, or individual with relevant medical/health training

  • CPR and First Aid certification (required)

  • Experience working with diverse age groups, particularly youth and seniors

  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols in educational or community settings

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies

  • Organized and detail-oriented approach to record-keeping

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor

  • Understanding of confidentiality requirements regarding health information

  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check

  • Must consent to random drug testing as per foundation policy

  • Reliable transportation to our Cincinnati location
