Requirements

  • Interest in Technology and Community Service: Volunteers should be passionate about helping others gain digital skills and bridging the digital divide, whether working with youth, adults, or seniors.

  • Basic Technology Skills: Comfort using common devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers is helpful. Specific roles may require familiarity with certain platforms (e.g., social media, coding, or e-commerce), but many volunteer opportunities are open to those willing to learn.

  • Willingness to Learn: Volunteers may need to complete training sessions on topics like working with older adults, online safety, information security, and recognizing elder abuse, depending on the program.

  • Communication Skills: Patience, clear communication, and a supportive attitude are important, especially when teaching or assisting those new to technology.

  • Background Check: For the safety of all participants, volunteers may be required to pass a background check before starting.

  • Time Commitment: Volunteers should be able to commit to the agreed-upon schedule, whether it’s a single event, a camp session, or ongoing weekly support. Some roles may require as little as 1–2 hours per week, while others may be more involved.

  • Teamwork and Reliability: Ability to work well with staff, other volunteers, and participants, and to reliably show up for scheduled shifts.

  • Age Requirement: Some roles may have a minimum age (often 16 or 18), especially when working with youth or in leadership positions.

Additional qualifications, such as previous teaching, mentoring, or event experience, are a plus but not required for most roles. Enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to help are the most important qualities for Tech Time Cincinnati Foundation volunteers
